USS Intrepid CV-11 (Essex Class), 1965 Config.
Description
One of the most decorated warships in U.S. Navy history, Intrepid earned her reputation across the Pacific in WWII. Surviving torpedoes, bombs, and repeated kamikaze strikes that gave rise to her wry nickname, "the Fighting I." This recreation captures the carrier in its thoroughly modernized Essex-class configuration for the jet and space age (1965).
